Privacy Policy

TrailScribe is an independent field-capture and submission-prep tool for onX Offroad Trail Guides. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to onX. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account information — your email address and the display name you provide when you sign up.
- Trail content you create — voice-note transcripts, photos you add, trip details, timestamps, and (when you enable it) location/track data for the trails you record.
- Device permissions — camera and photo-library access are used only when you add photos to a trail; the microphone and speech recognition are used only while you dictate a voice note (your speech is transcribed to text on your device); location, if granted, is used only to record your track and tag notes/photos. We do not access any of these in the background without your action.
How we use it
Your content is used to provide the app: to assemble a trail-submission package you can copy into onX's desktop Contributor Portal. To help draft a rules-compliant write-up, the text of your voice notes may be sent to Google's Gemini API for processing; it is used to generate your draft and is not used to train models on your data. We do not sell your personal information.
Where it's stored
Account data, trail records, and photos are stored in our Supabase (PostgreSQL + object storage) backend, protected by per-user access controls so only you can read your own trails. Photos live in a private storage bucket accessed through short-lived signed links.
Your choices
- Delete any recording in the app to remove its notes and photos.
- Delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all of your trails, notes, photos, and tracks. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Revoke camera, photo, or location access at any time in your device's Settings.
Children
TrailScribe is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
